​A lovely bit of Italian Sorrento ware, this small marquetry box is full of character. Handcrafted in Italy, the lid features a classic symmetrical floral and foliate design using contrasting wood veneers—a fine example of the woodworking Florence is famous for.

This box still bears its original blue merchant label on the base, showing its origin in Firenze. It has a hinged lid and a recessed lip for a tidy close. It’s the perfect size for rings, cufflinks, or those little keepsakes that need a home on a bedside table.

This piece is being sold in true vintage/tatty condition. It’s definitely lived a life, which gives it a wonderful, authentic "found" look. There is visible age-related wear to the finish, including some scuffs and "crazing" (fine lines in the lacquer), as shown in the photos.

The wood has a beautiful patina.
